**Just announced (8/7/25) this location is now closed. All brewing and tasting room is at the home location in S. Portland, ME**
During our Keene, NH travels we popped into Modest Man Brewing located at 100 Main St. Our first impression leaned more nightclub than neighborhood brewery: low lighting, booming music, and an energy that felt geared toward nightlife rather than a laid-back pint. It wasn’t the warm, welcoming vibe we’d hoped for.
We grabbed 2 pints and a margarita pizza:
🍺 16oz Its Dark & Hell is Hot
A solid dark lager, well-crafted, but not one I’d rush back for.
🍺 12oz Awfully Deep
A decent hazy, though it didn’t quite hit the high notes we’ve come to expect from this style. Still enjoyable, just not a standout.
🍕Margarita Pizza
This was not your traditional Margarita Pizza. I wasn’t a fan, but my travel buddy gave it a thumbs-up—so we’ll chalk this one up to personal taste.
They do have a small back beer garden and a small front patio that sits for great people watching. Most patrons were friendly, though we did encounter a roaming pup on a picnic table and overheard some off-color comments from the nearby group.
This spot was a one and done, a not return spot for me. It may be your spot, you just have to try for yourself. I will never tell you not to go somewhere, I will only tell you my personal take and tell you to go and try for yourself. Give it a shot and see where you land!
🍻Cheers
