Northwoods Brewing Company

On Saturday 3/8/25 we visited Northwoods Brewing which is located at 1334 1st NH Turnpike Northwood, NH. This brewery opened in 2018, attached is Johnsons Dairy Bar that has been there since 1955. This brewery also has a small bakery section at the front where they offer donuts, crullers, cannoli's, cupcakes and coffee.

I had the pleasure of having 3 Guest Travelers with me today. When we got there the small main sitting area had one table open that was still dirty so we opted to sit in the back section where there was one other couple.

After 20min of our arrival it got extremely busy. It was taken a bit to get orders in and food out.

We started off with the Irish Red, Dunkel, the IPA Preservation Line up, and Forever Locked DIPA

The Irish Red had notes of Caramel it wasn't that bad, it just wasn't a fan favorite, the Dunkel was light on the palette and enjoyable, Preservation was a Citra IPA that was not overly hoppy that was a nice refreshing beer. The Forever Locked was delicious, smooth for a double IPA and not over citrusy or hoppy.

Once those were finished an Apple Ale was tried and was pleasantly surprised to find it was not a cider but a refreshing light Ale and a Northwoods IPA that had a slight hoppy bitterness to it, both were enjoyable. They do offer non-alcoholic beverages and a self serve water station for all to enjoy.

We ordered 2 pizzas, Loaded Baked Potato and the special Ruben Pizza, along with the Spinach and artichoke appetizer. Tables that came in and ordered much after us were being served their pizza and drinks well before ours came out. At this point we waited 45min for everything to come out at once. The appetizer came out a few moments after the cold pizza was delivered, yes it was sitting for awhile. The chips that came with the Spinach and Artichoke dip were very stale and hardly edible. With the wait time, the appetizer not coming out before the pizza and the pizza lacking warmth and toppings we figured our order was just forgotten to be put in and then forgotten about. We were starving at this point so we ate.

The pizza I was excited to try, its made from sourdough! Unfortunately, the pizza did not live up to what I had hoped for. It was paper thin and lacked toppings. Every slice was awkwardly cut and only a handful of toppings on it. We were still starving so we got another pizza to try. We ordered the CBR. That one came out quick and hot! Shredded chicken was lacking, maybe 5 slices of jalapeño sporadically placed and bacon was clumped on a few slices.

The environment was friendly and clean. Although they are kid friendly, the bathrooms are lacking changing tables. They are definitely large enough to add a folding one in against the wall to assist parents.

All in all the food was lacking, the beer on the other hand was delicious. The next time we go we will give the restaurant side a try in hopes the other food options are better.

I will never tell you not to go somewhere, I will always tell you to go and make your own adventure.

Cheers 🍻
